Mel Stride MP has been given a tour of the new Foundation Stage Unit (FSU) at Christow Primary School before it officially opens for the new academic year. The new FSU has been developed on the site of the old pre-school and will provide a more integrated Early Years setting, helping children with the transition into Reception.
Mr Stride’s last visit to the school was in May 2021 but due to Covid-19 he spoke to pupils at a special assembly in the school playground rather than going inside.
Head Teacher Amy Yeo, who joined the school in April, said:
“It was great to welcome Mel to Christow, discuss Covid-19 catch-up support, and to show him our new FSU. We have had an excellent year and have been busy during the summer holiday getting everything ready for the new term and are looking forward to opening the new facility.”
Mr Stride said:
“I was very pleased to be the first person to see the new FSU here at Christow. I have no doubt it will improve the already excellent Early Years provision here even further.”
