Ashburton Post Office apprentice April Jones, 17, who is five months into an eighteen month apprenticeship, recently received a visit from the town’s MP to discuss apprenticeships. Central Devon MP Mel Stride, who served as a ministerial aide in the Business Department and helped to significantly increase the number of young people embarking on apprenticeships, said:
“Apprenticeships are mutually beneficial. They are an excellent way to gain important skills and qualifications while also earning and they bring real value to their employers. It was great to meet April and to discuss her apprenticeship at the post office.”
April said:
“I am really enjoying my apprenticeship and would urge anyone who isn’t sure about the next step to take in their education or career to seriously consider an apprenticeship.”
During his visit Mr Stride also caught up with sub-postmaster Stuart Rogers, who he has been supporting over ambitious plans to expand the branch.
