Mel Stride MP has called on the 3,500 Revolut users in Central Devon to support the 2020 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal by using their electronic donations feature. With this year’s appeal having to adapt due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the RBL has teamed up with Revolut to enable millions of people to donate directly to the Poppy Appeal through their Donations feature by automatically rounding up their card transactions to the nearest pound and instantly donating the difference. Revolut users can also make regular recurring payments or one-off donations.
Mel, who has been a member of the RBL for many years, said:
“The British Legion continues to play a hugely important role in looking after our veterans and making sure that the lives lost in two world wars and more recent conflicts like Iraq and Afghanistan, continue to be honoured and remembered. Their poppy appeal cannot function as normal this year so the RBL’s partnership with Revolut will enable users to make donations in a Covid-safe way.”
100% of each donation goes directly to the Poppy Appeal and the service is completely free for the Royal British Legion.
To make a donation, open or download the app then go to Widgets > Donations > Royal British Legion. Users can then choose to make a one-off donation, set up a recurring payment or select the spare change option to automatically round up their card payments and donate the difference.
Each year Mel lays a wreath in one Central Devon's largest towns - this year he will be laying one in Bovey Tracey.
