Mel recently paid a visit to The Dartmoor Shepherd, a farm specialising in three traditional breeds of longwool sheep native to Devon.
The Dartmoor Shepherd has been using the sheepskin rugs from their rare breed flocks to create a range of products, which they now sell online, in their shop in Chagford, and at shows and events across the country.
Mel Stride, MP for Central Devon and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: "It was great to meet Lewis and Flora. Their innovative approach to farming on Dartmoor is proving successful, and I was impressed by the couple's dedication to ethical and sustainable agricultural practices.
“The visit was also an opportunity to discuss some of the issues facing farmers in the area.”
Lewis Steer, the Dartmoor Shepherd, said: “It was great to welcome Mel to the farm. It’s positive to see MPs reaching out and getting onto farms to talk with farmers at such a critical and evolving time for the agricultural industry.”
