Mel Stride MP visited Cavanna @ Elm Park in the parish of Exminster today to see the first phase of 245 new homes under construction by Westcountry homebuilder Cavanna Homes, 25% of which will be designated as affordable. This means they will be bought or rented at below market value or made available through shared ownership schemes.
The homes are part of the South West Exeter Development of 2,500 homes, with the majority being built within the parish of Exminster so under the authority of Teignbridge District Council. Mr Stride was shown around by Cavanna Homes’ Sales Advisor Liana Smith and visited the plots where the affordable homes will be built.
Mr Stride said:
“The South West Exeter Development will be by far the biggest new housing development built in my Central Devon constituency. I hope it will go a long way towards addressing the local housing need – both for families looking to buy on the open market and for eligible families waiting for discounted affordable homes.”
The South West Exeter development includes 21.5 hectares of new employment development and a 1,400-pupil school. There will be major infrastructure improvements, including five new junctions and two new highways.
