Taking on The Green Challenge

In October I was proud to be chosen by MPs from across the House of Commons to serve as chairman of the Treasury Select Committee. Following the General Election, I was re-elected unopposed to continue in the role.

A Busy and Poignant Week

Last week I criss-crossed our vast Central Devon constituency visiting primary schools in Okehampton, Crediton and Tedburn St Mary (pictured). The visits coincided with National Reading Week and I am encouraged by the initiatives that our local schools have undertaken to promote reading.

Mel Stride MP has written to the administrators of the Department for Education Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) – which provides funding for capital maintenance projects within education - strongly urging them to support an application from Lapford Primary School.

Record NHS Funding

Monday saw the second reading of the NHS Funding Bill which will enshrine in law an additional £33.9 billion every year for our NHS by 2024. This is the largest injection of cash into our NHS in its history and will take annual NHS spending to £148.5 billion.
