POST OFFICES have never been more vital to their communities according to Central Devon MP Mel Stride who has seen local bank branches disappear at a greater rate than almost anywhere else in the country.
Representing one of the largest and most rural constituencies in England has plenty of challenges but one of the benefits is spending time in some wonderful market towns – each with its own character, history and sense of community.
Mel Stride MP has written to Devon County Council after a major landslip outside New Park in Bovey Tracey which has left the park home community unable to get to Thorn’s Cross and instead facing a significant detour.
Although we exited the European Union on 31st January, freedom of movement between the UK and the EU will continue for another 11 months, when a new points-based immigration system (similar to the system used in Australia) will be introduced.
Mel Stride MP was among those supporting World Book Day on Thursday 5th March, helping to promote the national ‘Share a Story’ campaign calling on parents and carers to read with their children for ten minutes a day.
