Sir Mel Stride MP visited Park Farm near Bradninch to meet representatives from Müller UK & Ireland and discuss the future of British dairy farming, food manufacturing and food security.
The visit brought together Müller’s senior agriculture and public affairs team with local dairy farmer Mark Persey, whose family has farmed Park Farm for more than seventy years. Discussions focused on the challenges facing the dairy sector, including rising costs, environmental regulation, labour availability and the need for long-term investment certainty.
Müller is one of the UK’s largest dairy businesses, purchasing around one fifth of all milk produced nationally and working with more than 1,000 British dairy farmers. The company employs approximately 7,500 people across the UK and plays a significant role in both the food manufacturing sector and the rural economy.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the role of domestic food production in strengthening food security and supporting economic growth.
