Over the past year, I have been in contact with the Post Office regarding their wish to remove the Pick Up and Drop Off Evri service from the fantastic Lustleigh Dairy & Post Office.
Although we were able to delay this decision for almost a year, the Post Office have finally followed through with their threat, much to my concern and that of the community. The shop and post office are vital to the village. The PUDO service is critical for those who can’t drive and for reducing the frequency of delivery vans on our rural lanes.
I have followed up with them again after my recent visit and will do all I can to secure a satisfactory outcome. They have informed me that they are exploring alternative options to mitigate their decision, and I have asked them to spell out exactly what support they can offer constituents. I have emphasised the importance of the Post Office and shop to the village and hope they will recognise the rural characteristics of the area.
I will keep constituents up to date on Facebook and, for those who have written to me, via email.
