  • CENTRAL DEVON MP SEEKS HIS CONSTITUENCY'S BEST SMALL SHOP!

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride is urging successful small shops in his constituency to enter the Best Small Shops Competition 2018, which celebrates the creativity of small shops and the vital role they play in their local communities. The competition is free to enter and all participating shops will be promoted to customers through an online Indie Retail Directory. The competition is being run by The Association of Convenience Stores and defines a small shop as a a non-corporate business selling goods or services to the public for use or consumption rather than for resale, from a business rated premises in the UK.

    Mr Stride said:

“I am fortunate to have more than a dozen wonderful market towns in my hugely rural constituency made up of some fantastic independent shops. Having launched and grown a small business from scratch myself I know how challenging it can be and with more and more shopping being done online there has never been a more important time to celebrate and promote our small shops.”

Shopkeepers can nominate their businesses until Sunday 9th September at www.bestsmallshops.co.uk. 25 of the most impressive applications will be shortlisted by a panel made up of established representatives from the independent retail industry. The judges will be looking for evidence of a small shops’ entrepreneurial spirit, how they have been innovative in their business and what they have done to have a lasting positive impact on their community.
