  • MP URGES BUSINESSES TO CHECK OUT GOVERNMENT HELP AS FORBES RANKS UK AS BEST COUNTRY FOR BUSINESS IN

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride is urging businesses in need of help or advice to check out www.gov.uk or ring the Government’s Business Support Helpline. Mr Stride, who launched his own business from scratch and ran it successfully for 20 years before entering Parliament in 2010, said:

“Whether you’re running a well-established business, have recently launched a new company, or are just thinking about starting your own business, you can never have enough help. A huge amount of advice, including potential access to grants, finance and loans is available at www.gov.uk/business-finance-support. You can also contact the government’s Business Support Helpline for free advice on 0300 456 3565.”

Mr Stride’s appeal follows the decision by influential magazine Forbes to rank the UK has the best country for business in 2018. Welcoming the ranking, Mr Stride said that businesses should absolutely be optimistic about their future.

“UK unemployment is at a 42-year low, the CBI recently reported on manufacturing orders being at a 30-year high and the number of major firms committing to a business future in the UK clearly shows they have faith in the UK economy.”

In June 2017 Mr Stride was promoted to Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster General putting him one rung below cabinet.
